Sign of the week: Designated lane markings on the road

Designated lane markings on the road

During your road test, your examiner may ask you to change lanes into a lane where it becomes a designated lane to either turn right or left. You need to pay special attention here because it is sometimes very easy to miss the signs with them being on the ground.

Make sure you scan far ahead to see the road markings—and make sure you signal accordingly even though they are designated lanes. If you change into a right turn designated lane and you don’t keep your signal on you can fail your road test because you aren’t communicating your intentions. Also, your examiner doesn’t know if you’ve seen the sign and that could be very scary for them.

Let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

As always, stay safe out there!
